Monday, Jan. 30 | Dinner and a Movie, Celebrating the Annual Atlanta Jewish Film Festival

Dinner at Rain Thai and Sushi Bar
followed by the movie ‘In Between’ (Bar Bahar) at Ua Tara Cinema
Meet 7 p.m.

Join the Events Committee for our first get together of 2017. Rain Thai and Sushi Bar is located next door to Ua Tara Cinema in the shopping center on Cheshire Bridge (at the intersection of LaVista Road and Lindbergh Drive).

*Please note the change in restaurant for dinner. Committee members recently dined at HAJIME Japanese Raman Noodle Bar and were concerned about staffing and the ability to service a large crowd Monday evening before the movie. The food, however, was “excellent”.

‘In Between’ is the directorial debut of Maysaloun Hamoud. Winner Best Debut Feature Film at the Haifa International Film Festival.

This film has been praised as a “remarkable story of friendship, feminine power and the toll of patriarchal societies” telling the story of three Palestinian women who choose a life of freedom, fighting for the right to live on their own terms while sharing an apartment in Tel Aviv. While ultra chic criminal lawyer Laila and lesbian disc jockey Slama spend their free time in the city’s underground bar scene, their decidedly more religious roommate Noor, a university student, manages her new found freedom with a different approach. “Struggling to be themselves while finding the right romantic partners, the developing sisterhood negotiates being Arab-Israeli in a predominantly Jewish society.”

Sign up on the Website (click here) or in Tull Hall during lunch on Sunday, Jan. 29.

We strongly recommend buying movie tickets in advance online at www.ajff.org.  Tickets are $13/person and can be printed from the Website.
