Global Mission

Global Mission

Central is committed to being a faithful global partner in ministry by fostering sustained global relationships, mission partnerships, cultural awareness, and mission education with our siblings in Christ around the world. Central has an active Global Mission Committee which coordinates mission trips, learning opportunities, fundraisers, and partnerships on behalf of the congregation. We focus on mission efforts in these areas:
  • La Gonave Haiti Partnership: Central has a partner church in Trou Jacques, Haiti, which we visit at least once every other year. We partner with La Gonave Haiti Partners in providing teacher salaries, school lunch, school uniforms and scholarships, economic development initiatives, healthcare, and infrastructure. See our story below about the new church in Trou Jacques!
  • Peacemaking: Central is an active presence in peacemaking efforts in Atlanta, including Joining Hands for Justice in Israel/Palestine, the Presbytery Peacemaking Partnership, and a collaboration with Interfaith Peace Builders. We also host a public peace vigil outside our church every Sunday at 12:15pm.
  • PC(USA) Mission Support: Central partners with PC(USA) mission co-workers in East Jerusalem, South Sudan, and the Arizona-Mexico border through financial support, prayer, and mission trips. We also support denominational special offerings and emergency requests from Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
  • Fair Trade Sales: We believe that our spending habits should reflect our faith, and we seek to support just working conditions by offering monthly fair trade sales.
  • Ongoing mission projects: These include refugee support, advocacy efforts, ministry with international students, and periodic educational events for the downtown Atlanta community.
