Central in the City works to identify ways the congregation can engage the new growth near Central and ways in which we can advocate for the congregation’s concerns about homelessness, affordable housing, the displacement of those experiencing poverty, and related concerns.
Our members take part in downtown neighborhood organizations like the Atlanta Downtown Neighborhood Association, Capitol Hill Neighborhood Development Corporation, and Central Atlanta Progress. We also support the Central Outreach and Advocacy Center, which provides identification and other services to people experiencing homelessness, and Hope House, a non-profit sponsor of supportive housing located a few blocks from the church.
In the future, we hope to perform local advocacy efforts aimed at increasing affordable housing and other services for people who are homeless. If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact Gary Cornell through our Realm Portal.
